If anyone is interested, I’ll be talking on ABC Radio Newcastle from about 4:40 tomorrow (Wed 24th). I’ll be discussing protest and whether or not people of a higher socio-economic status are more effective advocates.
Interesting topic – let’s just hope I can say something interesting.
You should be able to stream it here.
I should probably draw your attention to the fact that I’ve got a new home page.
Feel free to pop in, I’ve reinvented myself as a web developer.
Last Friday over six month’s of work came to fruition. The Australian Centre for Democracy and Justice launch it’s latest campaign: Your Voice in House.
As we said for the launch:
The Australian Centre for Democracy and Justice is excited to announce the launch of our latest campaign: Your Voice in House.Check out the website today:The “your voice” website enables you to contact your representatives in government. When you search on your Postcode or Locality you get a list of everyone that represents you at both the State and Federal level in all houses of parliament. You can then select the representatives you want to email and send an email through the site.
Please check it out. But more importantly, use it!
There are a handful of people who’s internet usage (so to speak), I quite admire.
Most of them are now on Twitter. Now, I am too.
Follow me.
Gentle people, I have moved house and now live with the cool kids in Brunswick (Melbourne, Australia should there be any internationals out there reading). Some try and bring the cool to their suburb, I just go to the cool.
Once upon a time all I had to do was a blog post to this effect and all my friends would suddenly know that I have moved and should contact me for my new detailss. But I suspect those days are well and truly behind us.
Never mind.
If you do know me personally, I’d love you to pop over and see the new place so just contact me to get my new address.
Also, having moved, I don’t have the internerds at home (woe is me!). And to make things really strange, it would seem the whole house has network plugs but no actual phone line. This sucks a fairly monumental amount and I suspect will mean that it will be some time before I have a connection at home… and just when I finally get my own study.
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I got a promotion. Yep, I’m officially HACSU‘s Publicity and Communications Officer.
And I’d like a little support from the likes of you for the first major action associated with this promotion.
The Victorian government is current reviewing it’s mental health policy. At the moment it looks like the outcomes will increase the demand for these services, without providing the resources needed to cope with it.
We need you to let the Victorian Government know that this isn’t good enough.
Please go to www.bettermentalhealth.org.au and send an email to the Minister for Mental Health Lisa Neville, the Minister for Health Daniel Andrews and the Premier John Brumby. We need them to know that this is an issue that is important for the state of Mental Health in Victoria. Services are overstretched as it is. The current system cannot deal with a further demand increase.
Well, it looks like it’s time to update my “about me” section (which I’m sure I’ll get around to sometime next century) as I just got a promotion.
That’s right friends, I’ve moved up in the world, and am now officially “Communications and Publicity Officer” for the Health and Community Services Union.
I’ve been wrangling for the job for a while and my wonderful employer has finally given in.
