Web Comics
As a youngster I was never much into comics. I read Tin Tin and Asterix in primary school but that was about it.
I always kind of like comics, particularly the art in them, but just never seemed to be able to get into them.
The I came across a few “graphic novels” like Sin City, Transmetropolitan and The Preacher but again, loved the art but couldn’t really get into them. Couldn’t ever just sit down at read them.
Anyway, then a few years ago I came across White Ninja. I loved it, totally cracked me up and since then I’ve been reading a few web comics about the place.
So my favorites (ie I’ve read through all the archives of them) are:
So, what are your favorite web comics? Can you recommend any?
Country Music = Suicide
It’s old research, but it would appear that “the greater the airtime devoted to country music, the greater the white suicide rate.”
I understand that this was the motivation for Jello Biafra to team up with Mojo Nixon for a couple of albums.

Inland Empire
Saw the latest contribution from David Lynch at the film festival last night.
Five word review: “What the fuck just happened?”
It was over three hours long and lacked any determinable semblance of a story line. Still it certainly had a strong effect on me. I don’t know if I liked it or not yet and I think I’m glad I saw it but over all, this is the sort of feeling one is left with.
I’ve been a big Lynch fan for ever so I really want to like it. I’m just not sure though.
Portable Film Festival
I’m currently sharing an office with the Portable Film Festival guys two days a week. So I thought I’d give them a bit of a plug and show you a couple of clips which they are currently featuring. It’s pretty special:
Golden Plains
Things discovered at Goldern Plains include:
There were people there, young adults, born in the 1990s. This is concerning. I not really that old am I?
Idea for new government advertisment: “See what you can achieve when you’re not ‘On Ice’”
The Avelanches DJ set wins my heart again (they played Bon Jovi!), as does Dexters (he played Window Licker!) I want to marry the lead singer of the Belrays and both !!! and the Presets are well wicked.
There was a whole ranage of other funny stuff that I thought of on the night to post but can’t remember them now which makes this post mildly lame but never mind.
What do people think of the new Stooges album? It’s hard for me to not get excited about it but is it going to be able to compare to earlier stuff? However it could mean that they tour again.
