Cyclist rights

Via Spinopsys I’ve come across Wheels of Justice and am suitably impressed with their site and their reason for being:

Positive changes for cyclists starts at the grass roots, with you, your family, your workplace, your local cycling club, your local Bicycle User Group, a community program, media influence, pro-active involvement in riding events and driving school education programmes on share the road behaviour, to name just a few potential ways to keep the Wheels of Justice rolling for all road users.

Cate: Blogs, Cycling

..tis a sad day for the blogsphere.

First this, then this. What’s the world coming to, these are both blogs that I enjoy so much. Mind you, it’s almost by definition, good to know when to stop and I need to remind myself that these people aren’t hear solely to get me through my working day. It always take me a while to remove people from my blog roll as I’m in disbelief.

This was also a rather sobering reminder.

Commie Cyclist

It really doesn’t take much to be called a Communist these days. Mind boggling really.

Quite boring, and a little infuriating:

It’s time to get bikes off our roads. As a mainstream form of transport, the bicycle has proved itself the equivalent of communism: a lovely idea that failed dismally in practice. Bikes are dangerous to ride and slow traffic, which creates more pollution. For the good of all of us, we need to ban the bike.

WTF? Creating more pollution? Seriously Duffy, get over it. I’ve never slowed down a car in my life, and better still I’m a lot quicker through traffic during peak hour.

Moreover, according to Duffy “Bike riders tend to be unhappy and resentful people.” Now I’m not going to be as bold and pretend I can speak for the majority of cyclists but I assure you that there is a certain satisfaction when riding your bike – something that is often spoken about between cyclists.
