I hate Flash
I have always hated flash. I’m a Linux user so I simply cannot create flash files and using them can be problematic. I hate it because it is closed source and therefore lacking the interoperability that is essential to the Internet.
Moreover, I love ogg file formats. Always have. Far superior to mp3 and accessible to all.
Therefore I’m excited by this:
It will take quite a while for this to catch on – after all, there are people out there who are still using IE6 which I’m fairly sure doesn’t support HTML 5.

Hi, you can certainly create SWF on Linux, in many ways. Do you know what types of pieces you would like to make?

I always thought you needed Adobe Flash to create a flash file. I don’t have anything that I’d like to make right now but if you could point me in the direction of a program that I can use to generate a flash file I’d appreciate it.

Sure thing, try starting out at osflash.org or swftools.org then — I don’t think either is all-inclusive, but they each show some of the range of free and low-cost tooling available.

Thanks John – I’ll give these a go when I have a need for them.

You say you hate Flash, but the media you have embedded on this blog pages requires Flash. Aren’t you being a little contradictory?

I’m quite the hypocrite as it turns out.
