Jerk of the Week: Pauline Hanson

I joined Anna Bligh and the voters of Queensland this morning in a collective groan as Pauline Hanson, that no ‘talent ass-clown’*, announced that she would be running for state government again.

One must wonder why and I think I’ve got a clue. In 2000 she received nearly $200,000 in contributions from the tax-payer through our semi-publicly funded election campaigns. Yet she only declared about $35,000 in political expenditure. She refused to return the difference, but unfortunately she is under no obligation to. Running low on funds? Fish and Chip shop suffering due to the Global Financial Crisis?

So Hanson, you deviceive, racist, ignorant, unintelligent, fool, please just go away. And for refusing to go away, you are Jerk of the Week!

*Office Space anyone? Michael Bolton… call me Mike.

Jerk of the Week: Wilson Tuckey

As a sign of respect, there wasn’t going to be a Jerk of the Week this week. Then Outspoken Liberal MP Wilson Tuckey dropped this bomb:

OUTSPOKEN federal Liberal MP Wilson Tuckey has blamed the major parties for Victoria’s bushfire tragedy, saying it’s been caused by politicians pandering to green votes… Mr Tuckey, a former federal forestry minister, said government policies, which locked up forests, created excessive fuel loads.

He said he expected to be branded insensitive for raising the issue…

Mr Tuckey said when a forests products industry existed they used access roads and bulldozers which helped to put out a fire the day it started.

Not only is it insensitive to start some political point scoring when the death toll is expected to rise above 300, he’s just plain wrong. a) more roads wouldn’t have helped anyone in this fire, b) burning off has mixed results and can in fact lead to denser undergrowth and therefore worse fires.

What a Jerk.

Jerk of the Week: Andrew Symonds

Pull your head in Roy. We need you on the team but you just can’t seem to do yourself any favors. Stop and think for a moment before you open your mouth. Remember when you were saying you would put your hand up to be Australia’s captain?

Basically, it’s your fault that we’re looking worse than Bangladesh on the cricket field at the moment.
