So duty free shopping starts on Monday (which means only 30 days until I leave the country - so long suckers!)
And naturally I’ll be needing a portable music device. I’m happy to spend around $500 on it (duty free of course) so it seems to be a question of the iRiver H340 Vs a 60 Gig iPod.
I’ve been asking around and it seems like the iPod wins with regards to interface but the iRiver wins everywhere else (except storage capacity and I will need a considerable amount of storage, that is for sure)
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Two of my friends have iRivers, but the versions they have are now out of stock, never to be made again. They both love them, but one of them is very tech-minded and installs different programs on his to show album covers, time remaining, etc. It is more of a mini-PC than the iPod, but having said that, everyone else I know has some sort of iPod.
If I had the money, I would be looking for an iRiver, but either way you will have a repository for many, many tunes. And I will have some things for you to listen to.

Hammy,
My main issue with the ipod is that it’s battery is internal and you need to plug it into a USB to recharge it. You may be travelling with a computer, so this may not be an issue?

I would appear that iRiver is the winner - especially as I won’t be traveling with a computer.
