You know what else shits me? U2.
I’ve never liked them. They’re commercial, “radio friendly” and uninteresting. And that’s ok, really it is. What shits me is that it’s taken as a given that they are “the biggest rock band in the world”. Who decides this and on what criteria? What does this say about other bands?
Yes, they are very popular but are they really THAT popular? And if they are then shouldn’t we call them “the most popular rock band in the world”? It’s a far more realistic and objective description.
Someone said to me a little while back that they had tickets to the concert and that they were really excited about it. I said that I thought that was nice but that I didn’t care much for U2, to which they replied “Yeah, I’m not a huge fan either but it will just be great to see the biggest rock band in the world”.
When I don’t understand something it frustrates me. This “U2 phenomenon” frustrates me.

Iknow who has labeled them so. The same product that unashamadly promotes them and their boring music…
Do you know what product i’m talking about?

So maybe I am a little jealous, and maybe I’m not the biggest fan of Carlsberg, but this is my blog and I’ll get my knickers in a knot about what I like and when I like. When you start paying for the web hosting, I’ll stop writing about things that piss me off. Ok? Great!

Black Sabbath are clearly the BIGGEST rock band ever! Are they rock? Hmmmm. Who is to say what rock is? Maybe they are a whole new genre. Maybe one i havent heard of yet. Maybe i should stop eating sugar by the tea spoon. I like U2. Also i would like to add emo music is possibly the most entertaining and intellegent music to have graced our otherwise dull planet and i feel i can die a happy man now that i have been exposed to it. One of my favourites would have to be that new cover of Forever Young. I dont think that it is getting nearly enough air time. Whos votes for more than once an hour?! Who’s with me!
OK I think i have taken enough space now, plus it is time to go listen to Nova and pull my toenails from my toes with rusty pliers.
