Punk

I’ve always sighted Punk Rock as a major factor in my political awakening.

Now I know why.

I’m really not sure how to respond? Why do I site punk as a major factor, or what has someone being detained for singing along to the Clash have to do with anything?

punk rock isnt very polictal, if you want political then your better off going and listing to unkown rock bands like undersight and other bands like them, not because they express there hate and stuff why would u listen to that crap but because they talk about teenages and hardships and cos they sound heaps better then stupid greenday…..

Please don’t call Greenday punk. They defy all that is punk.

My favorite band of all time is the Dead Kennedys - few bands are anywhere near as political. If you don’t know them rush out and by their first self titled album.

When I say punk, I mean real punk. Look at Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Jesus Lizard and so on. The only decent punk that I’ve heard released in the last five years or so has been Jello Biafra and the Melvins’ last two albums - also really political.
