Yes, Sierra Leone is a shithole. I believe that one of the escapees had watch family members be hacked to death with machetes in front of them - that doesn't sound like a place that anyone should have to live in. My opinion on the matter is that I think the fact that they are from Sierra Leone should be enough to grant them citizenship or an appropriate visa (which a temporary protection visa is not).
