May Day

I’m struggling without the Internet at the moment having just moved house and patiently awaiting my ADSL to be installed. I just can’t bring myself to deal with dialup which I still maintain should be illegal.

However I just wanted to take this opportunity to offer everyone a belated Happy May Day.

With federal government industrial relations reforms threatening to take away many of the liberties one buy the union movement it is more important than ever to stand proud and acknowledge these achievements.

However, hopefully not all is lost. Andrew Bartlett makes the interesting point:

This is particularly poignant given that the Government is about to get control of the Senate, and every Liberal Senator in effect has the balance of power, as only one dissenter could defeat something on the floor of the Senate. There are some active and well-known Costello supporters on the backbench in the Senate, who also know they are unlikely to get off the backbench while Howard remains Prime Minister.
