Ok world, comments feature is now up and working so feel free to contribute to the Goonanism ideology.

Perhaps a way of facilitating this is by posting a dilemma that I’ve been having and hope to overcome through my research. I guess the question would be something along the lines of:

The new global protest movement’s answer to many of the worlds problems is to localise everything (yes this is a somewhat simplified statement). So how do we maintain the benefits of an economy of scale? Ultimately it’s an economy of scale that has enabled the new global protest movement (I hate the term ‘anti globalisation protesters’). With an economy of scale specialisation is much more easily accommodated so that even the most obscure needs can be accommodated. It is the 2nd class status of many minority groups that we are protesting against so why would we destroy the structural mechanism that accommodates minority groups (and sub minority groups).

The answer lies somewhere in the break down of the dualisms that have characterised modernity.

There is a lot there so please post any questions/comments and we can start a bit of debate.

Hello world

Hello world.

Welcome to my blog. It is an attempt to map my journey through my masters thesis. I hope to post reasonably regular ideas, revelations and significant hurdles in the development of my ideas.

My thesis topic is Why the Environment Movement Must Lead the Revolution.

I hope to have a comments function up fairly soon so that the global community (or at least those lucky enough to have a computer and access to the internet) can comment on my ideas. Hopefully this will be a sort of global peer review process and leave me with much food for thought and a much stronger argument.

So big up to the global community and may the revolution not be televised but posted on blogger!!!
